With the aim of promoting the social pacificationrescue public spaces and promote sport among Mexican children and young people to practice sports, Zacatecas is getting ready to reinforce its infrastructure and to host a qualifying game heading to the Basketball World Cup Qatar 2027.
During a meeting with the sports community, the governor David Monreal recognized that sport is “one of the best public investments”for its impact on health, coexistence and social pacification.
After the federal government announced, together with that of Michoacán, a strategic plan to pacify the state, in which the World Boxing Councilas announced by its president, Mauricio SulaimanIn Zacatecas territory, it was reported that three high-performance gyms will soon be inaugurated, in addition to promoting the dignity of sports spaces in coordination with the Government of Mexico.

In that context, Monreal instructed that all athletes that represent Zacatecas in national and international competitions travel with uniforms, conditions and adequate supplies, and highlighted that in 2026 the number of public investment in sports matters.
As part of the event, they were present Omar Quinterocoach of the Mexican Basketball Teamand the player Israel Gutierrezwho will carry out training and coexistence activities with young Zacatecas towards the qualifying game against the Dominican Republic, which will be played on November 28 at the Marcelino González Gym.
