Activists on digital platforms claimed that the screen was hacked by unknown persons with the aim of spoiling the moment of victory, especially since President Donald Trump had publicly attacked Mamdani during the election campaign, and threatened to cut off federal funding to New York if he won.
Others also considered that the message that appeared on the screen was evidence of the political chaos taking place in the United States of America, as Israeli newspapers such as “Jerusalem Post“, this novel.

Hacker or real?
The “Al Jazeera Investigation” team tracked the circulating video, which turned out to be real, but in a completely misleading context, as it appeared on the screen broadcast at the celebration of a live discussion on the “Spectrum News NY1” channel about the White House publishing a design inspired by the logo of the “New York Knicks” basketball team with the phrase “Trump is your president,” before it was deleted.
And move the site “Front Office SportsAl-American quoted a source close to the New York Knicks team as saying that the team contacted the White House about the design, and that they removed it voluntarily.
According to the website, the team explained that it “will remain neutral on political matters. We hope that all elected officials, whether current or recently elected, will perform their work well in their positions.”
This is clearly evident in the live broadcast on the Facebook platform for more than 3 hours by the PBS News channel, as it appears at the time (1:48:52) of the shot whose promoters claimed that the screen was hacked at that moment, something that did not happen at all.
Despite Trump’s previous threats if Mamdani was elected mayor of New York, the US President said in an interview with Fox News the day after the Democratic candidate’s victory was announced that he was ready to talk with Mamdani, but he stressed that the elected mayor of New York must respect Washington – and its financial support for the city – if he wants to succeed.
