US President Donald Trump said this Saturday, October 11, that he had ordered the Department of Defense to “use all available funds” to ensure that US military personnel receive their salaries next Wednesday.
This order was given to address the ongoing ‘Shutdown’ in the country, which has to do with the federal government shutdown that has lasted eleven days and has already caused the first layoffs of federal employees ordered by the White House.
In a post on social media, Trump assured that he was taking action on this matter because, for the first time in history, the “courageous” military personnel would be at risk of “losing the salaries owed to them on October 15th.”
In this sense, he added that he was using his authority as commander in chief to instruct Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, to “use all available funds to pay” American troops. “We have identified the funds to do this, and Secretary Hegseth will use them to pay all of our troops,” he stressed.
