Looking ahead to the bicentennial of Mexico’s diplomatic relations with France, President Claudia Sheinbaum and her counterpart Emmanuel Macron signed agreements to strengthen the bilateral relationship; There will be cross-code exhibitions as part of the celebrations.
This Friday, after private and Cabinet meetings, the Mexican president and the president of France offered a joint conference in which they stressed that both countries are beginning a stage of cooperation, and that the exhibition of the Azcatitlán and Boturini codices will be proof of this.
“We have had very fruitful meetings, in which we signed scientific, cultural and diplomatic cooperation agreements, which include collaboration in environmental matters, women’s rights (…) next year we will renew the trade agreement with Europe, while also marking two hundred years of the Mexico-France diplomatic relationship, which will provide a lot of opportunity for economic cooperation between our nations, and in the bilateral relationship,” commented Sheinbaum Pardo.
In this regard, President Macron highlighted that “synergies can be numerous and our willingness to go further is there to consolidate the relationship between Mexico and France and also the European Union. That is an important stage in the consolidation of our economic relations. Culture is also at the center of our strategic alliance. Our countries are already linked by a long history of cooperation in heritage matters.”
Thus, it was agreed to strengthen the Franco-Mexican Strategic Council, which, in the words of the Chief Executive, will allow “expanding investments, trade and the economic complementarity of our countries, even in new areas of technological development and innovation, such as digital, renewable energy, technologies for agricultural production and others.”
