The Government of Mexico announced the nationwide implementation of a new educational program called “School misses you,” with the purpose of combating school dropouts. The main objective of the project is to reduce school dropouts at the high school level and reintegrate young people who interrupt their training every year. According to Delgado, the initiative aims to replace institutional indifference through the direct participation of teachers and administrators, who must contact absent students and offer them alternatives to return to the classrooms.

The official explained that January is one of the months with the highest number of dropouts, since several students They don’t come back after the December holidays. Despite having their personal data, schools often ignored absences.

“For decades, no one seemed to care if a young person dropped out of school. Now we want to change that. We have their phone number, their address, their name and we know where their parents live. So why not go after them?” Delgado expressed.
