In the framework of a meeting with reporters, he confirmed that next week the opinion will be discussed in committees and it is expected that in the ordinary session on Wednesday it will be debated in the Plenary and, if appropriate, approved.
He indicated that the project sent from San Lázaro will be modified in order to increase the average penalty for those who commit the crime of extortion and prevent retroactivity from operating in favor of those prosecuted or sentenced.
He announced that it is expected that the modifications that will be made to the presidential initiative will include the creation of state prosecutors’ offices against the crime of extortion, where they do not exist, and that anti-kidnapping prosecutors’ offices are not the ones that investigate this crime.
He explained that it is also planned to modify the reservation approved by the Chamber of Deputies in the sense that the penalty for officials involved in extortion was lower, so it will be sought to be equated to that of extortioners directly.
The president of the Senate Political Coordination Board also commented that the opinion already has a 90% of progress, so its discussion is ready for Wednesday of next week.
On other issues, he said that he has no concerns about the investigations that are being carried out against casinos, because during his management in the Ministry of the Interior no permit was granted; He also said that there is no evidence against him from other cases where he has been accused.
