Rosa Icela Rodríguez Segob Attention to the Causes


Rosa Icela Rodríguez, head of the Ministry of the Interior (Segob) reported that in 1 year the program Attention to the Causes that Generate Violence has reached 3 million 69 thousand 448 people.

This Tuesday, the person in charge of the country’s internal policy presented the Plan report, in the Morning of President Claudia Sheinbaum.

Rodríguez Velázquez highlighted that in this period the doors of homes were knocked on in 15 states and 77 municipalities as a result of the articulation of efforts of the three levels of government.

In addition, he noted, 404 Peace Fairs were held to bring programs and services closer to the communities.

338 Peace Committees were also formalized that promote citizen participation, in order to improve the social environment.

“We recognize the commitment of federal agencies, state and municipal governments that every week join in, with actions, in favor of communities throughout the country, because as President Claudia Sheinbaum says: Security is not sustained with wars, but with justice, with development and with respect for life,” he said.

Continuing with Attention to the Causes, the federal official mentioned that the coordinated work of authorities with neighbors made possible the recovery of 306 public spaces, such as parks, squares, trails and sports fields.

He detailed that through the Ministry of Security and Citizen Protection, 945 sports and recreational activities were carried out in the State of Mexico, with 75,396 attendees.

In Tabasco and Baja California there were trainings.

With the Secretariat of Agrarian, Territorial and Urban Development, he added, community works began at the Javier R. Bours Sports unit, in Cajeme, Sonora.

Together with the IMSS-Bienestar, he explained, medical services were strengthened in Pantelhó and Tila, in Chiapas, where more than 56 thousand services were provided.

An INE credentialing day was held in La Trinidad and Frontera Comalapa. 1,808 people joined the Youth Building the Future program.

He pointed out that, in coordination with Financiera para el Bienestar and the Secretariat of Welfare, small businesses in Chenalhó were incorporated into the Solidarity Credit program.

34 homes were delivered to displaced families from Ejido Puebla, and three Milk for Wellbeing sales points were inaugurated in La Trinitaria and Frontera Comalapa.

Peace Day had 2.1 million participants

On the other hand, the head of the Interior recognized the work of state and municipal secretaries and technical secretaries of the Peace Roundtables, who every week coordinate sports, cultural and artistic activities with local governments.

Continuing with Attention to the Causes, 6,855 Peace Days were held, where more than 2,100,000 people participated.

He explained that the National Commission of Physical Culture and Sports (Conade) continues with the Ponte Pila program, and carried out more than 19 thousand activities, with the participation of 1 million 600 thousand people in the Peace Fairs, in 14 entities.

In addition, to prevent addictions and suicides, as well as contribute to generating strong emotional ties in the homes of girls, boys and adolescents, the workshop “Strong Families, Love and Limits” was held, taught by the World Health Organization.

Secretary Rodríguez recalled that within the framework of the “For Peace and Against Addictions” campaign, 64 Young Entrepreneur Fairs were held, with the participation of more than 19,104 people.

As part of the international campaign “16 Days of Activism against Violence against Women,” he added, 96 walks were carried out in 89 municipalities, which were attended by more than 26 thousand people.

Together with the Women’s Secretariat, more than 100 Dissemination Days of the Women’s Rights Booklet were held, reaching more than 16,700 people through talks and workshops.

He specified that this in the last week, because the Secretariat of the branch has delivered more than 25 million cards.

Tianguis del Bienestar has reached 61 thousand families

Continuing with Attention to the Causes, Rodríguez Velázquez reported that 61 thousand families have benefited from the Tianguis del Bienestar program.

He pointed out that, in coordination with the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit, through the National Customs Agency of Mexico, INDEP, the Tax Administration Service (SAT); the Secretariat of National Defense (Defense), Secretariat of Anti-Corruption and Good Government, the Secretariat of Welfare, the National Guard, state and municipal authorities, we continue visiting the most remote communities, with the Tianguis del Bienestar.

Through this program, more than 61 thousand families have benefited from 23 municipalities and nine towns in Guerrero, Oaxaca and Michoacán. People are given household goods, fabric, clothing and new basic necessities, which were confiscated at customs.

He stressed that with the support of the Defense and the Catholic Church, the action “Yes to Disarmament, Yes to Peace” is maintained, so that the population can come to exchange, anonymously, their firearms for cash.

There are 8,700 weapons exchanged

On the other hand, from October 1, 2024 to date, 8,700 firearms have been exchanged, of which 2,519 were long, 5,088 short, and 1,093 grenades, in addition to cartridges and magazines.

With the disarmament module, the secretary added, one was installed for the exchange of war toys for educational ones.
