After 13 hours of negotiation at the Ministry of the Interior, yesterday farmers and transporters reached some agreements with the authorities, which is why they agreed to remove the blockades that had been in place since Monday at various points on the country’s highways.
Baltazar Valdez, leader of the National Front for the Rescue of the Countryside (FNRC), stated in a message on social networks that they have “achieved the signing of the agreement with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of the Interior (Segob).”
At the same time, Valdez asked the protesters to remove the blockades on the roads and on the border with the United States “in order to conclude this stage of negotiation.”

What agreements did the protesters reach with the government?
After the meeting, Valdez declared to the media that, among the agreements reached, The government promised to make the pending payments of the support they have demanded, for corn and wheat.
Furthermore, it is expected that a “permanent” work table to address various pending issues, such as guarantee prices for crops and the new Water law.
As well as “the exclusion of basic grains and oilseeds in the next negotiation of the free trade agreement” with the United States and Canada (T-MEC), scheduled for 2026, he explained.
Regarding the demands of the transporters, David Estévez, president of the National Trucking Association (ANTAC), pointed out that Although they are not “totally satisfied,” they managed to get the government to commit to improving safety on the roads, after the increase in crimes and disappearances of operators throughout the country.

For its part, Segob assured in a statement that in the meeting with leaders of agricultural producers and transporters, they were informed of “the institutional programs and actions that the Government of Mexico will apply in the different states to meet their demands.”
Segob detailed that three working groups were set up to address insecurity on the roads, the Water Law and rural issues.
“The protesters committed to immediately lift the road blockades they maintained in various states of the country to end the impact on the free movement of the population and restore the passage of emergency services”the agency noted.
Among their main demands, farmers demand fairer prices for their production and that the new General Water Law not be approved, by which concessions for the use of water cannot be exchanged between individuals, with the obligation for the National Water Commission (Conagua) to distribute them again.
