Rheinmetall, a major player in the global defense industry, has announced its ambitious plans to increase sales by 2030. The company plans to increase its sales to 50 billion euros, which represents a significant increase compared to previous targets. This strategy is supported by an operating margin of over 20 percent, as CEO Armin Papperger explained at a capital market day. For comparison: In 2024, Rheinmetall achieved sales of around ten billion euros with an operating margin of 15.2 percent.

Rising global defense budgets offer Rheinmetall an excellent opportunity to further expand its market position. A dramatic increase in defense spending can be observed, particularly in Europe and Germany. To capitalize on this trend, the company plans to expand into new defense sectors. An important step in this strategy is the takeover of the military division NVL of the renowned shipbuilding company Lürssen, which enables entry into naval shipping.

In addition, Rheinmetall is aiming to expand into rocket technology, supported by cooperation with the US major corporation Lockheed Martin. These partnerships are critical to maintaining the company’s technological edge and meeting demand for advanced defense systems. The new targets significantly exceed the original plans, which envisaged sales of around 20 billion euros by 2027.

The CEO emphasized that investments in technology and infrastructure are crucial to achieving these ambitious goals. Rheinmetall is committed to developing innovative solutions to expand its technological lead in the international defense industry. Sustainable partnerships and the development of new markets are of central importance to ensure future-proof growth.
