Three decades after its debut, Rococo Pantheon celebrate this anniversary with Soundan album that breaks the mold and confirms that the band remains open to exploring new paths, while returning to others, which makes their past and present coexist in their own way.

Although it may seem novel to the public to hear the band alongside artists like Carín León, Lngsht or Sabino, Gorri remembers that the idea did not come from nowhere, but rather from a long musical journey.
“Many people believe that this is the first time we are doing something like this, but we have been committed to these musical bridges since 2000, when we traveled to Europe for the first time and discovered festivals where punk, balkan, folk coexisted and they even called us ‘mariachi punk ska’.” Since then, he said, “they understood that genders are not borders.”
Therefore, when talking about these collaborations, he considers that “it was not a leap, but a natural evolution. Many do not like it and say ‘how is it possible?’. But in 2007 we did it with Ricardo Arjona and a wonderful version of Si el Norte Fuera el Sur came out. He himself said that he had to sing like Shenka, because there was no longer any way to enter the song.”
The real news is that today they did it without a label behind them, so they returned to the independent path. For the guitarist, the most important thing is not the industry, but creative freedom.
“It is the album we have put the most budget into, and without a backup. It came out of us. We worked with producers from Los Angeles and London because we wanted to, because we believed they were the ones who had to give sound to these songs.”
That process also reconnected them as a band. After years of international tours and stronger personal lives, Sonoro returned them to the studio as in the beginning. “Having to live together 24/24 in rehearsals, pre-production and studio was like meeting us again like before, like in the 90s. We even found out things we didn’t know about each other.”
Evolution
On a personal level, Gorri assures that the meaning of making music has changed. If at the beginning everything was a party and the need to “win over people”, today the objective is deeper. “I found my purpose in life: to make people happy. That a song or a concert gives them strength to continue in their daily lives, that it is a social meeting point. When you understand that, you know that you have to take care of it.”
The celebrations will continue with two concerts at the GNP Stadium, on November 27 and 28for whom according to the guitarist, “it was a challenge to make a setlist because we came with new songs, but at the same time we want to return to playing others that have already disappeared from the sets, but we are very happy with the selection and I’m sure there will be fans who will miss hearing rare songs, but they will also know others,” he concluded.
