PAN promotes water package for the 2026 budget


Deputies of National Action (PAN) in Mexico City announced a package of initiatives in water and security matters, that they will seek to incorporate into the discussion of the budget for the 2026 Economic Package in the capital’s Congress.

He will ask Congress for 30 percent more resources

At a conference, the local president of the PAN, Luisa Gutiérrez, reported that the proposals arise from forums with deputies, specialists and neighbors, to incorporate public policies on urban issues, such as access to water and better security.

He explained that within the framework of the discussion of the 2026 Economic Package, they will seek to include a proposal for “Sponge City” so that urban gardens absorb, filter and store rainwater, in order to avoid flooding and return water to the subsoil.

“What we also want to propose is an investment so that the material (asphalt) can be changed for one that truly permeates the subsoil, this will avoid sinkholes, which will proliferate potholes,” he said.

In this regard, the Secretary of the Environment of the capital’s PAN, Gabriela Salido Magos, mentioned that the approach is to begin to modify the public space intervention model, allowing the creation of permeable areas for the collection and permeability of water to the subsoil, through infrastructure that separates the rain so that it can be reused.

PAN of the capital is going for renovations

Magos stressed that the initiative involves not only the renovation of sidewalks and roads,
but a change in strategy towards a long-range public policy.

To this end, he announced that the bench will request a 30 percent increase in the budget that is currently allocated for actions on the water system and urbanization.

Additionally, the Albiazul leader added that they will seek to implement “Trust Cameras,” body-worn video devices for police officers to record their actions during operations with the purpose of strengthening transparency and protection mechanisms, both for citizens and for those in uniform.

respect and evidence,” he noted.

For his part, Andrés Atayde, the coordinator of the PAN Parliamentary Group in the
Local Congress, pointed out that the bench will seek to ensure that these proposals are echoed and approved in the discussion of the Economic Package 2026, considering that they respond to
recurring demands of the population.

“They are proposals to guarantee water, prevent floodsstop abuses, stop the
corruption and protect both citizens and police,” the bench noted.
