Hours after winning the sprint race, the Australian Oscar Piastri (McLaren) signed this saturday the ‘pole position’ of the Formula 1 Qatar Grand Prixahead of his teammate Lando Norrisleader of the drivers’ World Championship and who can become world champion on Sunday.
Piastri clings to the drivers’ championship after win the sprint race y take pole position in today’s qualifying. However, things are still complicated.

Norris has a 22-point advantage over Oscar Piastri and with 25 on the Dutch Max Verstappen (Red Bull), who will occupy third place in the Qatar GP starting grid.
These three drivers are the only ones still in contention for become world champion in 2025 with two Grand Prix remaining for the season finale, which closes in a week in Abu Dhabi.
On Sunday, A victory would help Norris become world champion. For his part, four-time champion Verstappen needs to finish ahead of the Briton on the Lusail track to maintain his chances, in a race that, like qualifying, will be held at night.

Top 10 of the qualifying
