It starts this Thursday (09), one of the main cultural events of Portugal: The International Obidos Literary Festival (Folio)which celebrates a decade of existence, begins another edition in 2025, this time with the theme “Borders”.
For 11 days – takes place until October 19 – The event transforms the traditional Portuguese village into a global stage of the written word. They will be gathering close to 800 authors and artists from various nationalities, including many important names in Brazilian literature.
Already on the opening day, the filmmaker and book Jessica Nolte Participate in the conversation “Doors to the World: The Power of Stories in Childhood”mediated by Daniel Kondoat 18:30. Soon after, at 7:30 pm, the translator and writer Caetano Galindo Presents the book “Latin Powder”. The next day, Kondo returns to the stage with MARCOS ARAÚJO to the table “Borders of the Expanded Language”about literature and augmented reality.
On the 12th and 13th, the program includes the presence of Tom Fariasauthor of “All Fury”that divides the stage with the musician Dino d’Anciaand the chronicler Tati Bernardiwho talks to Frenchman Édouard Louis. The publisher and writer SIMONE PAULINO Participates in two tables on the 13th: “The boundaries of identity in literary invention”com ANDRESSA MARQUESe “Unseat and ignorance as unstable approaches – a philosophical literature”next to Juliano Garcia Pessanha and João Guilhoto.

That same day, the Pernambuco Moon verolira spear “Memory has thick waters”accompanied by João Innecco and Henrique Rodrigues. Already on the 14th, Jacques Fux it presents “I will never forgive you because you have forced me to forget you”while Luna Vitrolira and Tom Farias participate in the conversation “Brazilian literature begins now” and the writer Wagner Merije Integrate Tertúlia “30 years of rehearsal on blindness”.
On the 16th, it is the turn of Paula Cajaty, who moderates the panel “Reading clubs: the construction of essential communities”followed by a new appearance of Tom Farias em “Brazil -mozambique transitos”, I lado lado lado lado lado, and also from Jacques Fux that will be in “Borders and the loss of the self”.
On the 17th, the writer and journalist will be in Óbidos Álvaro Filhobased in Lisbon, and participating in the conversation “Chronicle, historical novel and registration”. The next day, Álvaro also presents his latest book “I do not speak Brazilian and other chronicles of Lisbon”com Catarina Carvalho. The 18th will also have the presence of Paraná Giovana Dadalosothat divides table with Angolan José Eduardo Agalusain one of the most anticipated conversations of the festival.
The Brazilian program ends, as well as the festival, on the 19th, with the indigenous writer and environmentalist Kaka Weráwho participates in the session “The future of generations: the view of the welcome”.
Organized by the Óbidos City Council, in partnership with Read Devaga, the Inatel Foundation and Óbidos Criativa, the folio proposes a cross between literature, music, cinema and visual arts. This year the program maintains this multidisciplinarity, with shows ending each festival day, which increasingly puts itself as one of the main cultural events of Portugal.
