Bolt has launched a new feature in the application that allows users to report drivers who are driving dangerously during their TVDE trip, whether due to speeding or risky driving, the platform announced today.
In a statement, the European company said that the tool made available to users is part of a global investment in security worth 100 million euros.
With the new functionality, Bolt intends to “disincentivize and flag inappropriate driving” in the individual road transport service for passengers in unmarked vehicles and from an electronic platform (TVDE), allowing customers to share ‘feedback’ about dangerous behavior that, after the trip, will be transmitted to drivers.
According to the note, to report, customers must open the safety tool in the application, select “’report dangerous driving’ in the menu and choose one of three options: speeding; using a mobile device while driving; or dangerous driving”.
“We know that not all passengers feel comfortable approaching a driver regarding their driving and this new functionality will allow them to quickly and discreetly share their concerns during the trip. This way we can transmit ‘feedback’ to drivers and further improve the users’ experience”, said the general director of Bolt in Portugal, Mário de Morais, quoted in the note.
According to Bolt, this new option for reporting dangerous driving joins “a robust set of safety measures” already existing in the app, such as “Ride Check”, which “detects prolonged stops or unexpected deviations on the route and allows you to quickly contact emergency services or the Bolt safety team”.
Bolt also has “’Unmatching’ available, which prevents users from being paired with poorly rated drivers, and “Trusted Contacts”, which allow “automatically alerting family or friends in the event of an emergency”.
These are also joined by an emergency button, real-time location sharing and four-digit collection codes, which help ensure that each trip starts with the right pair of passenger and driver.
Bolt operates in more than 50 countries and 600 cities, being one of two TVDE operators operating in Portugal, together with Uber.
