Netanyahu wants an international force in Gaza capable of confronting Hamas with force news

The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation reported that Benjamin Netanyahu’s government is making moves to ensure that the Security Council’s authorization for the force expected to be deployed in the Gaza Strip is broad, and allows it to act forcefully against the Hamas movement with the aim of disarming it.

The Israeli moves come ahead of the expected vote on this matter in the UN Security Council tomorrow, Monday.

The Broadcasting Corporation quoted officials as saying that Israel demands that the mandate granted to the International Stabilization Force be in accordance with Article Seven, so that its responsibility is to implement peace, even by using force, and not to maintain peace in accordance with Article Six.

Article Seven grants the international force broad powers, as its formation does not require the approval of all parties. It also has the right to enforce order and security by military force, and to use weapons to preserve civilians and disarm armed groups, in addition to the mandate given to it to undertake initiatives on the ground to prevent any escalation.

Participating countries

The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation said that the decision that the Security Council will take regarding the powers of the international force will determine the identity of the countries that will participate in it.

It is noteworthy that US President Donald Trump said that the date of the international stabilization force’s arrival in the Gaza Strip is very close, and he believed that things are “going well so far” within the framework of the ceasefire.

The United States has prepared the draft resolution on the international force presented to the UN Security Council, based on Trump’s 20-item plan to stop the war in the Gaza Strip. This force is supposed to replace the Israeli occupation army as soon as it enters the Strip.

The genocidal war committed by the Israeli occupation in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023 left more than 69,000 martyrs and more than 170,000 wounded, most of them women and children, and the destruction of more than 90% of the Strip’s buildings.

Israel is still bombing the Gaza Strip and blowing up what remains of its housing, despite the ceasefire agreement reached on October 10, which resulted in hundreds of Palestinian martyrs and wounded, as well as restricting the entry of food and medical supplies.
