Looking ahead to 2026, the year in which Mexico will once again host the Soccer World Cup, the country is struggling in a wave of economic uncertainties and violence that cause a lack of confidence among investors and greater financial burdens for Mexicans.

In the Income Law approved by Congress for fiscal year 2026, a debt of 1.8 trillion pesos is expected, of which 1.6 trillion will be used to pay interest on the current debt.
According to the opposition, in the entire history of independent Mexico, from 1824 to date, the total debt that the country accumulated was 10.55 billion pesos.
And in the seven years of Morena governments, the debt rose to more than 20 billion pesos.
And quoting the coordinator of the senators of the National Action Party (PAN), Ricardo Anaya, “what took more than 190 years to accumulate in public debt, Morena is going to add it in only 7 years of government.”
But that’s not all, the political uncertainty caused by the judicial reform, whose judges have made countless mistakes due to their ignorance of the system, continues to raise alarms among the CEOs of the main American companies regarding the review of the Trade Agreement between Mexico, the United States and Canada (T-MEC).
In addition to the fact that this weekend, 25% tariffs on medium and heavy trucks imported into the United States came into force, a measure that mainly affects Mexico, where medium-tonnage vehicles are produced for American manufacturers.
And if this is how we are on the economic issue, what can we say about the issue of violence and insecurity.
In 15 days, Michoacán recorded two high-impact murders, that of the leader of lemon producers, Carlos Torres, who reported extortion by organized crime and who forced the Security Cabinet of the Government of Mexico to go to the area to propose a joint strategy; and that of the municipal president of Uruapan, Carlos Manzo, who had also reported threats, for which he had “protection” from the federal government.
This week we also learned that medicines and supplies are still missing at the Children’s Hospital, and that there are severe discrepancies between the statements of the Government and that of an alleged criminal who would have been detained in Portugal.
However, for the authorities everything is going smoothly, although the car seems to have no direction.
