A team from the Red Cross and Al-Qassam Brigades ended its operations in the Shujaiya neighborhood, east of Gaza City, without finding the bodies of additional Israeli prisoners, in parallel with the death of Palestinians by occupation fire in areas of the Gaza Strip.
Pictures showed trucks and excavation equipment heading to the area in question to search for the bodies of Israeli prisoners for the second day.
Israeli Channel 12 reported that the occupation forces closed the Philadelphia axis in the southern Gaza Strip as part of the search for the bodies of prisoners.
Yesterday, Monday, the Israeli occupation authorities released the bodies of 45 Palestinians they were holding, and they were transferred to the Nasser Medical Complex in the city of Khan Yunis for an attempt to identify them.
The Ministry of Health in Gaza stated that the occupation authorities have handed over the bodies of 270 martyrs since the start of implementation of the first phase of the agreement to stop the war on the Gaza Strip.
Civil Defense spokesman in Gaza, Mahmoud Basal, told Al Jazeera that the remnants of war constitute time bombs that threaten the lives of residents, especially non-explosive materials.
He added that the Civil Defense needs heavy equipment to retrieve thousands of martyrs from under the rubble.
Release of prisoners
On the other hand, Al Jazeera’s correspondent reported that the Israeli occupation forces released 5 Palestinian prisoners through the Kerem Shalom crossing.
The reporter added that those released were transferred to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir Al-Balah in the Gaza Strip for medical examinations.
Israel released about 1,700 prisoners from Gaza on October 13 as part of the ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement signed by Hamas and Israel.
The agreement entered into force on October 10, mediated by Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey, and under the auspices of US President Donald Trump, as part of a plan he developed that includes several stages.
Most of those released at that time arrived in deteriorating health, and a number of them spoke of being subjected to torture, starvation, and humiliation inside Israeli prisons.
Martyrs in the sector
On the ground, a source at Nasser Medical Complex reported that 3 Palestinians were killed by Israeli occupation army fire in the city of Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip.
Also, 4 Palestinians – including 3 children – were injured by Israeli drone fire east of Gaza City.
Al Jazeera’s correspondent reported that the occupation vehicles stationed east of the city opened fire, and areas in the Al-Tuffah and Al-Shuja’iya neighborhoods were subjected to Israeli artillery shelling.
Palestinian sources reported that the occupation also bombed northeast of Al-Bureij camp, as well as Al-Maghazi camp.
The ceasefire agreement ended an Israeli genocide in Gaza that had lasted for two years since October 7, 2023, leaving at least 68,865 martyrs and 170,670 injured, most of them children and women, with a reconstruction cost estimated by the United Nations at about 70 billion dollars.
