To Maria Antonieta Hidalgoacting is a field where prejudices dissolve and the truth of the characters prevails over any controversy. For this reason, the young actress, who participates in the Dynasty Casillas seriesthe new spin-off of The Lord of the Skiesspoke about the complexity of acting in a production that, despite criticism for addressing narcoculture, she defends as an exercise in fiction and acting craft.
“We are interpreters of what is written on paper. At Dinastía Casillas we are more than 600 people working to give life to a story that is fiction. There may be a basis in certain real-life stories, but it has nothing to do with marrying reality,” he explained in an interview with this medium.

Aware of the questions that accompany this type of stories, Hidalgo approaches his work from an artistic perspective.
“We do not judge characters as good or bad, but as human beings who grow in certain circumstances. If I as an actress judged them, I would not be able to do a lot of things. Our job is to seek the truth of the character and show it on screen,” she stated.
The actress recognizes that, beyond the topic that the series addresseswhat truly connects with the public are emotions: “There will always be detractors, but there is also an audience that is hooked by the passions, the suffering, the love or the adrenaline of each story.”
His time at Dinastía Casillas has been, to be sure, a transformative experience, since coming from theater and cinema, and now Hidalgo found in large format television a school of rhythm and discipline.
“It is a huge project, with many units recording at the same time. It gave me a professional boost: I learned to solve quickly, to always be ready, and that generates an adrenaline rush on and off the set. I was one before and another after the Casillas Dynasty,” she said.
Filming also allowed him to discover a new path in his career: action. “I had a lot of physical training, stage combat, handling of weapons. All of that helped me profile myself as an action actress, of which there aren’t too many either,” she commented.
In addition to crime fiction, Hidalgo recently participated in Acapulco, a series produced by Eugenio Derbez.
In contrast to Casillas, the tone of this production was lighter and more familiar, focused on Mexico in the 80s. “I was surprised to see how much of a worker Derbez is; he arrives first and leaves last. He works hard and is interested in showing a beautiful vision of Mexico. It was a very enriching multicultural experience,” he recalled.
Regarding what’s next, the actress announced that she is focused on exploring more raw and reflective stories. “I am interested in topics related to women and the role they have in Mexico, how complicated it is. I am looking for projects that make people uncomfortable, that make you think,” concluded María Antonieta Hidalgo.
