Lisbon was elected, for the third time, Best MICE Destination in Europe in 2025, a distinction awarded in the 6th edition of the World MICE Awards, announced this Saturday, December 6th, in Sakhir, Bahrain.

The Portuguese capital once again stands out among the main international destinations in the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) segment [congressos, reuniões e eventos corporativos, em português].

For the Mayor of Lisbon, Carlos Moedas, “this distinction demonstrates Lisbon’s ability to attract events that generate investment and employment. “Business tourism is today a central piece in the city’s development strategy, and this recognition shows that we are consolidating a leadership position in Europe”, he stated, cited in a note from Lisbon Tourism sent to newsrooms.

Paula Oliveira, executive director of the Lisbon Tourism Association, adds that “this recognition reflects a strategy that has been able to evolve with the market. Lisbon today presents a competitive proposal for events of all sizes, which benefits from the quality of its infrastructure, the professionalization of the sector and an ecosystem that can respond to the demands of international organizers.”

According to the most recent data from ICCA – International Congress and Convention Association, Lisbon ranks second among European cities with the highest number of association events (153, in 2024).

Created to distinguish excellence in business tourism, the World MICE Awards “value destinations, operators, spaces and services that contribute to raising global standards in the sector”.
