New housing construction costs increased 3.8% in August compared to the same month of 2024 and registered a break of 0.9 percentage points (PP) when compared to July, the National Statistics Institute (INE) released this Wednesday, October 8.
The increase in August was influenced by the 7.3% homologous increase in labor cost and the growth of materials price at 0.9%.
According to INE, the cost of labor contributed 3.3 pp to the formation of the homologous variation rate of the new housing construction costs and the materials with 0.5 pp.
The glass and mirrors showed a rise of about 30%. Coating materials, insulation and waterproofing and ready concrete increased about 5%.
The bitumen and ceramic products registered a descent of about 10%, and the PVC pipes, the soft and galvanized steel plate and the steel, cast iron and pipes pipes a break in the price of the order of 5%.
