The President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo presented this Tuesday, November 4, the “Michoacán Plan for peace and justice”this after the recent murder of the mayor of Uruapan, Carlos Manzo.
The federal president indicated that The comprehensive strategy is based on a deep conviction that focuses on the fact that security is not sustained by wars, but by justice, development and respect for life.
The President’s initiative detailed some key points to understand what it is based on and how the implementation of Plan Michoacán will be carried out in the entity.
These points aim to create solutions together with the Security Cabinet and officials in its administration.
In the first instance, it is important to mention that the strategy is based on three main axes:
- Security and justice
- Economic development with justice
- Education and culture for peace
Claudia Sheinbaum explained that this plan does not intend to be vertical, so it will seek to be nourished by the different voices of the population (women, young people, indigenous peoples, authorities, etc.).
He mentioned that starting today and throughout the week they will listen to be able to present the concrete plan in the coming days.
Presidential offices in municipalities of Michoacán and biweekly security tables
At this point, the federal president explained that The presence of federal forces in the entity will be strengthened and will be focused mainly on homicides and extortion.
Within this same area it is also intended strengthen the state prosecutor’s office through a new Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Investigation and Intelligence in High Impact Crimes, an office of the Presidency of the Republic in different municipalities and biweekly security tables with the Security Cabinet.
It is also planned create an alert system for municipal presidents.
Economic development and investment for Michoacán
Another point that is important to highlight is that it also plans economic development for Michoacan.
According to President Sheinbaum Pardo, she said that for this point we must start with a guarantee of social security and decent wages for agricultural laborers and export agriculture workers, as well as investment in the rural sector.
Art and culture for Michoacán
And finally, in the case of education and culture for peace, the plan contemplates the creation of reintegration and care programs for victims, as well as dialogue tables for peace.
In this same axis, it is planned to develop campaigns focused on “recovering Michoacán”, scholarships, community centers and programs that promote art and culture.
