The wounds have not yet healed for the families who lost their children in public hospitals in the State of Mexico. On Tuesday, mothers and fathers met in front of the Mexican Prosecutor’s Office, in the municipality of Tolucato demand clarity and responsibility.
The death of thirteen you drink due to the presence of the bacteria Klebsiella Oxytoca remains unresolved, while the administrative and health authorities continue to offer insufficient and late responses.
With photographs in hand and pain turned into complaint, attendees remembered that their children received intravenous solutions that, according to preliminary opinions, were contaminated.
These supplies were administered in neonatology areas that, according to reports, operated with shortages, lax protocols and personnel that minimized the first signs of the outbreak. “It was not an accident. It was negligence accumulated over years,” said the mother of one of the deceased newborns.
The annoyance also lies in institutional procedures. The victims point out that the investigation is progressing without rhythm and that the Prosecutor’s Office has avoided reporting in detail about the exact origin of the contamination. The state Health Secretariat, for its part, has not made clear how the supplies were acquired or what measures were taken after the incident. “They only tell us that they are checking, but no one takes responsibility,” denounced a father.
Although a reparation agreement was authorized, only half of those affected received support, leaving six families without psychological support and without legal support. The protesters insist that they are not seeking money, but guarantees that this tragedy will not be repeated and that those responsible face the consequences of their actions or omissions.
