Microsoft recently released new optional updates for Windows 11 related to versions 24H2 and 25H2. These updates, known as build numbers 26100.7309 and 26200.7309, bring a number of improvements and new features. The focus is on optimizing AI-powered functions and expanding hardware support, especially for external USB webcams.
The new updates make it possible to use the extended Windows Studio Effects with external USB webcams. Functions such as background blur and eye contact correction, which were originally only intended for integrated notebook cameras, now benefit from broader hardware support. This significantly increases the practical use of these functions and offers users more flexibility in their choice of devices.
In addition, Microsoft has further improved File Explorer. The modernized context menu of the ‘Click to Do’ function is now more responsive and allows quicker access to common actions such as copying or sharing. The appearance has also been optimized: dialog windows now correctly adapt to the dark color scheme in dark mode, and a bug that occasionally displayed an outdated white toolbar has been fixed.
With the wide Insider release of these updates, Microsoft wants to ensure that the improvements are fully tested before the next regular patch cycle. Users of all insider channels can benefit from the corrections at an early stage. This gradual removal of the old Control Panel in favor of the new Settings app is another step towards a more modern and user-friendly interface.
