The secretary of Public Education, Mario Delgado Carrilloand the governor of the state of Michoacán, Alfredo Ramírez Bedollashared with students of the Technological University of Morelia (UTM), the details of the beca “Gertrudis Bocanegra”, which will support university students of the entity with 1,900 pesos bimonthly and that is part of the Michoacán Plan for Peace and Justice.
Who can apply for the Gertrudis Bocanegra Scholarship?

He pledged that, from the Ministry of Public Education, he will accompany “the youth of Michoacán in the collective construction of peace, assuming that education guarantees the right to exist fully, which implies justice, tranquility and hope. Peace is faith in the future and in the possibility of expressing, individually and collectively, the harmony that promotes dignity, well-being and the joy of living.”

New scholarship is part of the Michoacán Plan
He recalled that, as part of the Michoacán Plan for Peace and Justice, new infrastructure will be built in the entity in Higher Secondary Education to open 30 thousand additional placeswhile in Higher Education five Rosario Castellanos Universities will be built and, together with other institutions, 50 thousand new spaces will be created.
Governor Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla highlighted that the delivery of this new scholarship was agreed with the president Claudia Sheinbaum Pardoafter valuing the importance of supporting students with resources destined for transportation.
He pointed out that the Michoacán Plan for Peace and Justice has as its central axis the youth of high schools, high schools, universities and technological institutions of the state, with the objective that, for no reason, they abandon their studies.
In turn, the national coordinator of Scholarships for Wellbeing Benito Juárez, Julio César León Trujillopointed out that the entity supports more than 486 thousand scholarship recipients at the three educational levels, with an investment of 4.4 billion pesos in 2025.
Registration start date
He reported that the new “Gertrudis Bocanegra” universal scholarship is exclusive to Michoacán, so the students You can register from December 15 to 21. This support will benefit 98 thousand students from the 121 public Higher Education schools in the entity. He added that the Banco del Bienestar card and the first payment will be delivered in January 2026.

Secretary Delgado Carrillo also met with rectors of public Higher Education institutions in Michoacán, to whom he explained the importance of the new “Gertrudis Bocanegra” scholarship and urged them to work in a coordinated manner to increase enrollment.
