Mexican men and women mobilized on November 15 in different states to demand greater security and the revocation of President Claudia Sheinbaum’s mandate.. These groups were convened from a profile on different social networks called Generation Z. This group went out to march again in Mexico City this Thursday, November 20.
Sheinbaum, during “The Morning” on Monday, stated that most of those attending last Saturday’s march were not young people, as was presumed on social networks. The President pointed out that the mobilization did not have the desired turnout, since there were “many adults and very few young people”.
“The vast majority of those who marched on Saturday were not young people from Generation Z, there were some young people, but the majority were not young people. We saw very familiar faces of those who marched in the Marea Rosa (government opposition group)”, he concluded.
This Thursday, November 20, the mobilizations of this group were reactivated, but only in Mexico City. One of the venues for these mobilizations would be National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM)but no one attended there.
The esplanade of the UNAM Central Library looked empty, after no one attended to the call for the march scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Around 9:30 a.m., the central campus of Ciudad Universitaria was barely visible with some students heading to their faculties and some media waiting for the presence of the protesters..
In a tour carried out, various students were consulted, who stated that they were unaware of the call and maintained that said movement was unrelated. In addition, it was confirmed that security personnel were aware of the concentration, but at the 11:40 a.m. cut-off, no presence of any participants was recorded.
