The owner of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), Omar García Harfuchreinforce the operational en roads of the country with the highest crime incidence.
After the protests last week, the person in charge of the country’s security said this Saturday that “on instructions from President @Claudiashein, we held a meeting with representatives of chambers and motor transport associations, where we reiterated the commitment of the Government of Mexico to strengthen road safety and protect this sector.”

He stated that “in collaboration with @GN_MEXICO_ and @SEGOB_mx we agreed to strengthen the coordination mechanisms, follow up on the investigation folders in the prosecutor’s offices and strengthen the operations in the sections with the highest incidence.”
He reported that the Security Cabinet will “also integrate actions of the National Strategy against Extortion to address complaints about this crime and we will hold continuous meetings to follow up on the agreements and guarantee results.”

Attention to carrier requests
Yesterday, there was another meeting with transporters in which the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Omar García Harfuch, representing the Security Cabinet, thanked the chambers, associations and motor transport companies for their participation, and listened promptly to the sector’s requests to address them in a coordinated manner..
He noted that they are strengthening the intelligence and investigation areas within the SSPC and that the investigation folders for motor transport theft that are in different delegations of the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic will be followed up, in order to strengthen institutional cooperation in this matter.

He added that within the framework of the National Strategy against Extortion, the requests that the representatives of the transporters raised to improve security on the country’s roads and avoid extortion will be attended to.
The secretary García Harfuch stressed that these types of meetings allow us to evaluate and perfect ongoing strategies to combat highway robbery.. He reported that subsequent meetings will be scheduled and that state and municipal authorities will be invited to reinforce coordination and provide timely follow-up to the agreements.
