CANTON GROUP

Labor unrest erupted strongly in Tecámacafter since dawn on Monday, a group of former municipal workers set up a permanent sit-in in front of the Municipal Palace to denounce a chain of dismissals that, they claim, were carried out without notice, without arguments and with an obvious political background.

According to the protesters, the administration of Rosu Wong removed employees from different areas just days before receiving their end-of-year benefits, a decision they describe as a maneuver to avoid payments and dismantle uncomfortable work structures.

On the municipal esplanade, tents, blankets and posters already cover part of the façade. The slogans are direct and full of reproach: “Rosi, you betrayed the people of Tecámac,” “Those who only pursue personal interests will never understand a collective struggle,” one reads among the Christmas decorations of the public building.

For the protesters, these messages represent the exhaustion of hundreds of workers who, according to internal reports, have been fired in recent weeks, a figure that would be around 300 employees from agencies such as DIF, ODAPAS and IMDEPORTE.

Those affected maintain that the cuts have a clear political bias, they assure that the councilor would be privileging profiles linked to the PRI and PAN, while leaving out personnel related to Morena, contradicting the principles that she claims to defend. This decision, they warn, not only violates labor rightsbut it puts at risk the functioning of essential areas of the municipal government.

The community has not remained alien. Merchants, neighbors and users who arrived at the Municipal Palace encountered the protest and expressed their concern about the lack of transparency.
