After the murder of Mayor Uruapan, Michoacán Carlos Manzo, President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo presented this Sunday, November 9, the Michoacán Plan for Peace and Justice, in which the four axes of the security strategy will be reinforced.
The President was accompanied by her legal and expanded cabinet, and the governor of Michoacán Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla.
Omar García Harfuch, head of the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSPC), expressed his condolences for the death of Carlos Manzo: “It outrages us and commits us even more to justice.” He assured that there will be no impunity and those responsible will be brought before the law.
He highlighted that the Government will reinforce the four axes of the security strategy: attention to the causes, consolidation of the National Guard, strengthening of intelligence and investigation and coordination.

He highlighted that Michoacán was the starting point of the national strategy against extortion, Therefore, the protocols will be strengthened, there will be sub-headquarters and advanced training for the personnel who operate 089.
“The state of force will be increased in coordination with state and municipal authorities,” stood out.
“The security of Michoacán is a national priority,” Harfuch said.
The cabinet will visit different municipalities and At the request of the mayor of Uruapan, Grecia Quiroz, the municipality will be visited next week.
He added that the security cabinet will hold meetings with lemon and avocado producers to guarantee their safety.
Sedena and Navy will deploy more than 12 thousand elements in Michoacán to contain violence
For his part, the Secretary of National Defense, Ricardo Trevilla Trejo, announced the deployment of 10,506 Army elements, the Air Force and the National Guard as part of the “Paricutin” Operations Plan, with the objective of “sealing the state” and preventing criminal groups from entering or leaving Michoacán.
Trevilla Trejo explained that the plan seeks to contain intentional homicides, extortion and other high-impact crimes, through institutional coordination between the three levels of government.
“This plan is intended to help prevent extortion and contain intentional homicides and other high-impact crimes. facilitating the population to carry out their activities normally”, said the head of the Sedena.
The Paricutin Operations Plan contemplates a regionalized strategy, in which each military unit will have specific functions depending on the operation of criminal groups and the type of crime.. Some units will be dedicated to combating extortion; others, to execute investigation and arrest orders; and others, to destroy synthetic drug laboratories and drug plantations, in addition to applying an anti-blockade plan to avoid confrontations.

According to Trevilla, the deployment will include 4,386 troops already present in the state, to which 1,980 more will be added starting this Saturday, in addition to 4,140 additional elements in containment operations on the borders with Colima, Jalisco, Querétaro, Guanajuato, the State of Mexico and Guerrero.
In total, the device will have five helicopters, a strategic unmanned aerial system, 18 drones, 43 anti-drone systems, five anti-explosive cells, three demining vehicles and more than a thousand military vehicles.
Likewise, 860 soldiers will be deployed in lemon production areas and 820 in avocado regions to address the problem of extortion in both sectors.
The head of the Sedena called on citizens to collaborate anonymously through the complaint numbers that will be visible on military vehicles and through the 088 of the National Guard, ensuring that all complaints will be attended to, no matter how minimal the information may seem.
