As part of a federal program promoted by the Government of Mexicocalls were officially integrated Wellness Pharmacies, whose objective is to facilitate access to medicines and strengthen the country’s health system.

According to the President’s announcement Claudia SheinbaumWellbeing Pharmacies join the initiative House to House Health, created due to the growing need to offer free and comprehensive medical services for the elderly.

In addition to providing medications and care at no cost, federal authorities seek with this program to address the lack of decent and accessible spaces, where older adults can exercise their right to health and receive adequate treatment.

Where are Wellness Pharmacies located?

As detailed by the Mexican president, the first stage began with 500 service points in the State of Mexicoone of the states with the highest concentration of population.

However, it is expected that by March 2026 pharmacies will be operating in all entities of the country.

For now, the available modules are found in units of the IMSS, IMSS-Wellbeing and Wellbeing Storeslocated in municipalities such as Naucalpan, Ecatepec, Chalco Valley and Atlacomulco.

Some of the current points of attention are:

  • San Ignacio de Loyola Rural Medical Unit (IMSS-Bienestar, Atlacomulco)
  • Santa Clara Health Center (Ecatepec)
  • Benito Juárez Health Center (Naucalpan)
  • Coronel Darío Ramírez Health Center (Valle de Chalco)

The opening hours in these spaces are from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., although they are not yet well defined. However, at the moment access is limited to the following people:

  • People with chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension or dyslipidemia.
  • People with a previous medical prescription that they have not been able to fill due to lack of resources.
  • People diagnosed during medical visits of the Casa por Casa Salud program.

With this strategy, the Federal Government seeks to address up to 80% of the medical needs of older adults in Mexico and maintain a preventive approach that contributes to improving public health.
