In the debate about how to deal with the AfD, two prominent entrepreneurs from Baden-Württemberg, Christoph Werner from dm and Roland Mack from Europa-Park, spoke out in favor of a critical examination of the party. Werner emphasizes the importance of an objective and in-depth discussion in order to protect the free-democratic basic order. He rejects a polarizing firewall debate and differentiates between the party and its anti-democratic positions.

Roland Mack underlines the need to speak to people who make up a significant proportion of the vote. He sees an opportunity in the open exchange of arguments, even if this does not necessarily lead to a common opinion. Mack emphasizes that there can be agreement on many things, while in other areas there is no solution.

The discussion was triggered by the Association of Family Businesses, which invited representatives of the AfD to a parliamentary evening for the first time. This led to the resignation of some members, including dm competitor Rossmann. DM was criticized on the Internet and asked to take a clear position against the AfD. Werner explained that dm had left the association months ago and was no longer part of the internal opinion-forming process.

The Association of Entrepreneurs Baden-Württemberg (UBW) clearly distances itself from the AfD and maintains no contact with its representatives. Managing director Oliver Barta emphasizes that the AfD in Baden-Württemberg is classified as a suspected right-wing extremist case and therefore does not represent a basis for cooperation. This attitude reflects the concerns that many companies in Germany have about the party.
