Electronic Arts and DICE have taken a significant step to protect the integrity of Battlefield 6 with the introduction of the Javelin anti-cheat system. Since the game launched on October 10, Javelin has successfully blocked over 2.4 million cheat attempts. This impressive number shows how seriously the developers take the issue of fairness. More than 1.2 million attempts were prevented during the open beta phase, which underlines the effectiveness of the system.
The goal of Javelin is not only to ban active cheaters, but also to detect and prevent manipulations early on before they can influence a match. In the first week after launch, around 98 percent of all matches took place without any recognizable cheaters, which reduced the so-called match infection rate (MIR) to around two percent. This metric indicates how likely it is that a match was influenced by a cheater.
The anti-cheat team at DICE and EA not only takes action against individual players, but also against larger providers of cheat software. They are currently aware of 190 programs, hardware, providers and resellers that are associated with cheats. Since the game’s launch, 183 of these providers have reported functional failures or shutdowns, underlining the effectiveness of the measures.
To further increase the effectiveness of Javelin, EA and DICE rely on the integration of operating system security functions such as Secure Boot and TPM 2.0. Secure Boot is now enabled on over 92 percent of PC gaming systems. These measures will be further expanded in the future to take action against special cheat hardware and to optimize the in-game reporting processes.
The developers emphasize that a dynamic approach is required to respond to the constantly changing activity in the cheat scene. Players are encouraged to report suspicious activity using the built-in reporting options. EA and DICE are continually working on new anti-cheat features and detection mechanisms to come online as quickly as possible to ensure security and fairness in the game.
