Mexico City.- During this year, the mayor’s office Tlahuacheaded by the morenista Berenice Hernandez Calderonthe monthly delivery of drinking water through pipes decreased, since in other years the number of cubic meters to which the inhabitants had access was greater than in 2025. The residents of this mayor’s office suffer from constant tapping and intermittent access to the natural resource.

In the case of 2022, the total cubic meters distributed by the mayor’s office was 105,060 cubic meters. Although some colonies received more than 30 thousand cubic meters of water during that year, others did not even exceed 700 meters in 12 months. Such was the case of the Del Mar, Nopalera and Tetelco neighborhoods—which received barely 200 cubic meters that year.

By 2023, the drinking water distribution through pipes it fell, since only 81,850 cubic meters of the natural resource were delivered. The colonies that benefited the most that year were Olivos, Santa Catarina, Tláhuac, Tlaltenco and Zapotitlán, which received from 6 thousand to 22 thousand cubic meters of water.

In 2024, an increase was observed in the distribution of drinking watersince 98 thousand 840 cubic meters were delivered. Even colonies affected by the supply, such as the aforementioned case of Nopalera and Del Mar, benefited from the annual increase in water supplied, as they received 1,330 and 1,560 cubic meters of water, respectively. Tetelco barely received 420 meters of water that year.

But for this year, the supply of average cubic meters of water to the mayor’s pipes has been affected. This is due to the fact that at least 2 thousand fewer cubic meters of water were delivered monthly compared to 2024: while in April 2024 11 thousand 100 meters were delivered, in that same month of this year, only 8 thousand 900 cubic meters were delivered.
