Drones disrupt flights again in Brussels and fly over a military base news

Air traffic was halted for half an hour at Brussels International Airport on Thursday evening due to a drone flying near the airport. Local media also reported that drones had been monitored in other areas of Belgium, including a military base and a nuclear power plant.

A spokeswoman for the SKeyes agency responsible for monitoring air traffic at the airport said, “Flights were disrupted for half an hour, starting at 9:23 p.m. (8:23 GMT), and then operations resumed as usual.”

At the same time, Belgian media reported that 7 drones were spotted near a nuclear power plant in the north of the country, and drones were also spotted near a military base.

Late last Tuesday, the detection of drones caused air traffic to be suspended twice at Brussels and Liège airports. Drones were also repeatedly spotted near military bases in the country.

Belgian Prime Minister Bart de Wever held an emergency meeting of the National Security Council on Thursday morning to discuss these developments, which the Defense Minister described as a coordinated attack.

Unidentified drones have caused disturbances across Europe in recent months, forcing several countries to temporarily close their airports.

European officials accused Russia of launching these drones as part of a “hybrid war,” but Moscow denied any connection to the matter.
