The new Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) will debate this Thursday one of the most relevant issues with national impact: leaving the calculation of the compensation due to death or disability minimum wages or change them to Unit of Measurement and Update (ONE).
The change to Aas proposed by the minister Lenia Batreswill have a direct and immediate effect on the repairs of the damage in a downward amount, whether they are granted by individuals, insurers or the Statewhich is considered by civil organizations as a serious setback in Human Rights.
For example, the maximum amount for reparations for damage due to death would remain at a maximum amount of around 565 thousand pesos throughout the country, compared to 1.3 million that could be set in minimum wages.

Delivery workers, among the sectors that would be most affected by the compensation project
One of the sectors most affected will be the motorcycle delivery menone of the most dangerous jobs in the country.
Edgar Balderasvoice of United Delivery Workers of Mexicoexplained that six out of 10 delivery drivers have suffered an accident due to the poor infrastructure that the Mexico City.
“We are the most vulnerable drivers in the country. Well, this would clearly affect us a lot. Because if they already compensate us with very little, which is the minimum wage. Now that they give us less, it is even worse,” he highlighted.
Balderas called on the SCJN to stop attacking human rights and really listen to the people, which was one of their campaign promises.

According to the Government of Mexico Cityin the second quarter of 2025, motorcyclists represented the highest percentage of people killed on site due to traffic events, with 44.7%followed by pedestrians with 25.4%.
