The owner of the Attorney General’s Office of Mexico City (FGJ-CDMX), Bertha Alcalde, reported that the agency will analyze the ballistic elements to clarify which of the two people detained for the murder of lawyer David Cohen was the one who fired the weapon that caused his death.
“To know specifically if the shots were fired and, above all, which of them was the one that directly caused the death of the victim, it will be essential to analyze the ballistic elements, have criminalistics experts to carry out the reconstruction of events, relying on the videos, testimonies, characteristics of the injuries,” he explained.
The attack against the criminal was recorded on the afternoon of Monday, October 13, in the Doctores neighborhood. That same day, Héctor “N” was arrested, who was identified by the authorities as the subject who shot Cohen Sacal. On Wednesday, October 15, Donovan “N” was captured, the second person involved in the murder and who, according to advances in the investigation, is the one who activated the firearm against the lawyer.
In a press conference with the Head of Government, Clara Brugada, the head of the FGJ-CDMX stressed that the attack “was directed” and pointed out that both detained people were carrying firearms, with which they carried out detonations. He specified that according to the autopsy, the lawyer was shot twice: one in the groin and another in the skull.
“They arrived aboard a motorcycle, got off and approached the place detonating firearms, wounding the lawyer, also according to the autopsy analysis, in the groin and skull; at the time one of the perpetrators was arrested, the other managed to escape on a bicycle that he stole, he was later arrested by the Secretariat of Security,” he explained.
Mayor indicated that as part of the investigations, the cases carried out by David Cohen will be analyzed.
Regarding the lawyer’s bodyguards, he indicated that they do not have the quality of being investigated; However, he said that the FGJ will be very exhaustive in all the elements of this homicide.
According to sources, the participation of two more people in the attack is being investigated and it is even being reviewed whether there was a third shooter. Yesterday Héctor left the hospital and was transferred to the North Prison.
