The Secretary of Energy, Luz Elena González Escobarinaugurated the second day of the VI ‘Mexico-European Union Forum common opportunities and challenges’where he highlighted the cooperation opportunities based on the new energy model of the country. A structural transformation that returns long-term strategic planning to the State and promotes an orderly and complementary participation between the State and private initiative, whether national or foreign.
The objective is clear, he asserted, to guarantee that Mexico has sufficient, clean and quality energycapable of accompanying the economic growth and social development projected for the following decades.

He stated that sovereignty, sustainability and social justice They are not only public policy objectives, they are pillars of the Nation project and the way in which the President’s Government Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo conceives development, which must be inclusive and guarantee the rights of the peoplewith energy as a strategic resource that has a deeply human meaning and at the service of the people of Mexico.
He explained that the new regulations strengthen the public nature of the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) and Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex), with strategic plans of these two State companies that involve a investment portfolio of nearly 250 billion dollars.
What Mexico is looking for, he highlighted, is consolidate a new balanced energy modelwhich combines environmental responsibility, economic soundness and social justiceopening broad opportunities for cooperation with its European partners in innovation, green financing and technological development.
