The Columbus Metropolitan Library recently opened its new Marion Franklin Branch, offering a significant expansion of space and services to the Columbus, Ohio community. The new location on Lockbourne Road replaces the previous branch, which was located in the former Beery Middle School building. At 10,000 square feet, the new facility doubles the size of the old location, providing more space to meet the diverse needs of the community.
The new library is equipped with two meeting rooms, a conference room and three study rooms available to the community. These spaces provide space for meetings, learning and community activities. Of particular note is the enlarged children’s area, specifically designed for programs, reading activities, play and computer use. There is a dedicated area for young people with books, computers and study spaces that take their specific needs into account.
Another highlight of the new library is the learning center, which offers free tutoring and after-school support for students. This initiative aims to improve educational opportunities in the community and provide additional resources to students. Additionally, the library offers public computers, a business center, and various seating areas perfect for relaxing and reading.
The previous Marion Franklin branch, which opened in 2014 as the “Express Branch,” closed on October 3rd. The library’s new opening hours are Monday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. These extended opening hours are intended to ensure that the community can fully benefit from the new offerings.
