The general secretary of the CGTP announced today a general strike for December 11th, at the end of the national march against the labor package, in Lisbon.

“We announce the holding of the general strike against the labor package”, said the general secretary of the CGTP, Tiago Oliveira, in a speech at Restauradores, in Lisbon, at the end of a march against the labor package.

Tiago Oliveira said that “with a position already taken or in the final decision process by many union structures, it was possible to establish convergence for a general strike on December 11th”.

Despite not having mentioned other union structures, it was reported this Friday by Expresso that UGT would also join this general strike.

“The attack is brutal, let’s go to a general strike”, began to chant the workers who were watching the speech, after a banner announcing the 24-hour strike was unveiled.

The march held today began with two gatherings in Saldanha and Amoreiras that joined in Marquês de Pombal, with thousands of participants then going down Avenida da Liberdade to Restauradores, where Tiago Oliveira spoke.
