The counting of missing votes in the parish of São Domingos de Benfica will have already ended, from what DN was able to know, and the CDU was closer to Chega, but will not have a second councilor for this purpose.
According to information provided by Observer and confirmed by DN, João Ferreira will have six more votes than Bruno Mascarenhas, but is then six away from overtaking Chega and including Ana Jara as councilor. It is a minimal difference taking into account the more than 265 thousand voters in the 24 parishes of Lisbon, but, everything indicates that Chega will keep the two elected councilors.
The process is not finished, yet. There are votes that were the target of protest. Chega, attentive to the process, criticized the CDU for considering that some null votes could be converted in its favor, even saying that there was an “obstruction” to the process.
The general tabulation assembly is expected to give its opinion this Friday, October 17th. There is also the possibility of, if one does not agree with the published notices, appeal to the Constitutional Court, in order to challenge the elections in that location. A possible request to challenge the elections will have to take place in the next few hours. The leader of the PCP, Paulo Raimundo, did not rule out this possibility during the Central Committee meeting, sending the final decision to after the end of the general tabulation assembly.
The PS will also have won some votes, party sources tell DN, but not enough to take away the absolute majority in the parish from the PSD. As such, the challenge, if it happens, will be via the CDU.
