Ernestina Godoy Rangel, head of the Special Prosecutor’s Office for Competition Controlannounced that he will assume the interim leadership of the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) after the resignation of Alejandro Gertz Manero.
The official, from her social networks, reported that she presented her resignation as Legal Advisor of the Federal Executive, a position she had held since December 1, 2024 in the government of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.
He described his time at the Legal Department as “one of the greatest challenges and privileges“of his career and stated that the transformation of the country”It is not just an institutional task, it is an ethical commitment that is sustained with conviction, work and loyalty to the people“.

The now head of the FGR office said she was proud of the progress made during this stage, and emphasized that Mexico continues “on a firm course towards a more just, more human future and with more rights for all.”
She later reported that, as a result of her resignation and in compliance with article 21 of the Law of the Attorney General of the Republic, she was appointed head of the Special Prosecutor’s Office for Competition Control (FECOC). This position gives him the constitutional responsibility of acting as interim head of the Attorney General’s Office while the Senate develops the process to appoint the new prosecutor.
