Mexico City.- During the mandate of the PAN member Rafael Moreno Valle in the state of Puebla, the drinking water servicesanitation, sewage, was privatized. Although the current governor, Alejandro Armenta, promised to resolve the situation of the concession for the management of the vital liquid, its distribution continues in private hands.

The privatization of the natural resource occurred in December 2013, when the governor of the National Action Party (PAN), Rafael Moreno Valle, handed over control of the water supply to the firm called Agua Para Puebla Para Todos. Although the current president promised to carry out the revocation of the concession given to individuals, he does not demonstrate any intention to comply.

Alejandro Armenta, when he was a candidate for the state of Puebla, participated in a forum organized by the Ibero-American University of Puebla; In said space, he stated the following: “As water is a right for citizens, we are analyzing reversing the privatization of the vital liquid.” However, the claim did not materialize.

Even during his participation in said event, the now governor pointed out that what was carried out by Moreno Valle was a brutal act of corruption and betrayal of the state. However, in his current position as president, he has indicated his refusal to seek a revocation of the concession, since it would imply the payment of million-dollar compensation to the state coffers.

Therefore, the inhabitants of Puebla continue to supply an indispensable resource intermittently, with failures and expensive.

It has even been reported that the water reaches the homes of residents with minerals that represent a risk of consumption, with dark tones and without the apparent intervention of state authorities.
