Diane Ladd, an American actress nominated three times for the Oscars, has died at the age of 89.
The news of the death was announced this Monday, November 3, by her own daughter, Laura Dern, who released a statement informing that her mother and occasional co-star had passed away at home in Ojai, in the US state of California.
Laura Dern, who considered Diane Ladd her “incredible hero” and “an incredibly generous mother,” did not disclose the cause of death.
“She was the best daughter, mother, grandmother, actress, artist and empathetic spirit that only dreams could have created. We were blessed to have her. Now she is flying with her angels,” he added.
Diane Ladd had a long career in television and theater before achieving film stardom with the film Alice No Longer Lives Hereby Martin Scorsese, released in 1974. Her portrayal of the frontal and feisty Flo earned her a nomination for the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress.
In the following decades, she continued to appear in dozens of films, having once again been nominated for Best Supporting Actress for the roles she played in Wildheart e Rambling Rose.
