Despite a seasonally adjusted decline of 2,000 people compared to the previous month, the total number of employed people remains at around 46 million. This stability is remarkable given the challenges that the German labor market has had to overcome in recent months.
From May to September there was an average decline in employment of 16,000 people per month. This trend did not continue in October, which could indicate some recovery or stabilization. Without seasonal adjustment, the number of employed people actually rose by 115,000, which corresponds to an increase of 0.3 percent. However, this seasonal increase is weaker than the average of recent years.
Compared to the previous year, the number of employed people fell by 59,000 people in October, which corresponds to a decline of 0.1 percent.
