Yesterday, Friday, the French Council of the Islamic Religion called on the authorities to open an investigation into allegations that two people collected information about Muslims in France and passed it to the Israeli intelligence service.
The Council referred – in a statement – to allegations regarding an investigation against Muslims in France, at the request of the Council of Representatives of Jewish Institutions in the country.
According to these allegations, political, administrative and security authorities in France provided information in this regard to two people, one of whom was Israeli, and then it was sent to the intelligence services of a foreign country.
These allegations appeared in a clip circulating on social media, in which French writer Didier Long stated that since 2023 he has been conducting research for the Council of Representatives of Jewish Institutions in France, and various Jewish institutions in the country, in cooperation with Dov Maimon, who works as an advisor to the Israeli government.
Long said he met people, including officials from French domestic intelligence and the Military Intelligence Directorate, and that the information he collected was submitted in reports to Israeli intelligence services.
According to the French Council of the Islamic Religion, Long and Maimon consider Muslims in France a “threat” to Jews residing in the country.
The Council called on the competent authorities, particularly the Ministry of Interior, to open an official investigation into these allegations.
He also announced that he would file a complaint with the National Commission for Information and Freedoms regarding the data that was collected and used.
