E-Redes had around 25,000 customers without electricity at 12:00 pm, due to bad weather, and 500 employees mobilized on the ground, hoping to “quickly resolve all constraints”, announced this Wednesday, November 5th, the operator of the electrical distribution network.
“At 12:00, there are close to 25 thousand customers to be fed and with the improvement in weather conditions expected for the afternoon, E-Redes hopes to quickly resolve all constraints,” he said in a statement.
The operator of the electricity distribution network said that “it has mobilized 500 employees on the ground, to provide a robust and effective response to the constraints and electricity failures that have been felt throughout the country”.
At 7am, there were 53 faults and around 31 thousand customers without electricity, a situation that worsened at around 8am, for 37 thousand affected customers, mainly in the Mondego and Tagus regions.
According to the company, at 8:30 a.m. a peak of around 60,000 customers without power was reached and by 11:00 a.m. “there was a significant improvement in the response in resolving the constraints felt on the network and there were around 42,000 customers without electricity”, particularly in the districts of Santarém, Castelo Branco and Portalegre.
E-Redes also detailed that it activated the state of alert from 8pm on Tuesday, due to the forecast of bad weather with heavy rain and thunder, which began to affect the northern area of Lisbon from this morning onwards and advanced towards the northern interior of the country.
According to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), the bad weather is expected to continue until the end of the morning, with thunderstorms, showers and sometimes strong winds expected to continue.
“E-Redes will remain mobilized and active in resolving all situations that may be affecting customers”, assured the company.
