One hundred Democratic members of the US Congress called on the Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Michael McCaul, to introduce a draft law to combat violence in the West Bank and hold those responsible accountable.

The members said in a letter addressed to the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the US House of Representatives that extremist settlement organizations continue to practice terrorism in the West Bank without any deterrence.

The 100 Democratic members considered that preventing violence in the West Bank is an essential step to achieving stability.

Assaults

The settler attacks are part of a widespread wave of Israeli escalation in the West Bank by the army and settlers, since Tel Aviv, with American support, began the genocidal war in the Gaza Strip on October 8, 2023.

The attacks in the West Bank, coinciding with the war on Gaza, resulted in the death of at least 1,069 Palestinians, the wounding of approximately 10,700, and the arrest of more than 20,500 others.

The Israeli genocide, which began in Tel Aviv on October 8, 2023, and continued for two years, left more than 69,000 dead and more than 170,000 wounded, most of them women and children.

Since last October 10, there has been a ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel, but the latter violates it daily, resulting in hundreds of Palestinian martyrs and wounded, in addition to restricting the entry of food and medical supplies.
