Google has taken another step towards assisted driving with artificial intelligence. Your navigation application, Google Mapswill incorporate an innovative function that will allow “ver” the road in real time.
The tool, called Live Lane Guidance o Live Lane Indicatorpromises to offer a more precise and safer driving experience, especially on highways and multi-lane roads.
This is how the new “Live Lane Guidance” will work
According to Android Centralthe new function will combine the use of vehicle cameras, sensors and the artificial intelligence system Gemini to interpret what happens in front of the car.
This way, Google Maps will not only show the route on the screen, but you can detect the exact lane driving, recognize road markings and signs, and suggest in advance when it is necessary to change lanes or take an exit.
According to the same medium and other specialized media, Google Maps will take advantage of the hardware of vehicles with system Google built-in (the version of Android Automotive integrated into new cars) to analyze the environment using computer vision.
This means that the map will be able to offer dynamic and contextual indicationsadapted to the real road conditions.

For example, if the driver approaches a highway exit or forkthe app will display a visual and voice view that will indicate exactly which lane is correct. This type of help is especially useful in areas where routes divide or converge with little room for maneuver, something common in highways of the United States and Europe.
Where will it be available first?
In this first stage, the function will be deployed in a limited manner. According to Android Central, United States and Sweden They will be the first two countries to test the system, with the Polestar 4 as a pioneer vehicle. Subsequently, it is expected that other models with system Google integrated, like Volvo, Renault or Hondareceive the update in the coming months.
Although there is still no confirmed date for its arrival to all users, the company’s engineers announced that global expansion will depend on the technical support of each manufacturer and the compatibility of cameras and sensors.
