At least 20 dead in a fire in a seven-story building in Jakarta (Indonesia)

At least 20 people have died this Tuesday for a fire that spread in a seven-story building in Jakarta, where firefighters are looking for survivors, according to the Police.

The fire has already been extinguished and efforts continue to find more possible victims within of the building.

Speaking to reporters, the head of the Central Jakarta Police, Susatyo Purnomoconfirmed that 20 people died at the site, which until 16:00 local time (11:00 GMT) had not been able to be fully inspected due to smoke and high temperatures.

The fire it broke out on the first floor and then spread to the upper floors. The building housed the offices of the company Terra Drone Indonesia, dedicated to the sale of drones for aerial reconnaissance activities with clients in the mining and agricultural sectors.

Some employees were eating in the building at the time of the fire, while others had left the office.

Images broadcast on television and social networks show dozens of firefighters trying evacuate to the people inside and some carried body bags.

It is also observed how several workers escape from the high floors of the building using stairs.
