On November 2, marked on the calendar as Day of the Dead, many workers and students are fortunate to enjoy it as a day off; However, this is not considered a mandatory break, so it is up to the educational authorities or employers to grant it or not.

Will there be suspension of classes on November 2, 2025?
The emblematic days of the Day of the Dead in Mexico are November 1 and 2; On the 1st, known as ‘All Saints’ Day’, deceased children are remembered; while 2 to adults.
In the SEP 2025-2026 school calendar, November 2 is marked for the suspension of classes; However, the reason is not what every student would expect; It indicates that the date will fall on Sunday, a day when there are normally no classes.
The above implies that November 1 will be a Saturday that is also a mandatory day of rest (because it is a weekend) for students and teachers at the basic level (preschool, primary and secondary school); That is, there will be no extra days of rest.
Despite this, it is not all bad news, because although the Day of the Dead falls on a Sunday, there will be a long weekend for students to enjoy it. This is the School Technical Council for the month of October.
When will the Day of the Dead long weekend be according to the SEP?
With all the above information we can confirm that the Day of the Dead long weekend will be from Friday, October 31 to Sunday, November 2 and students will return to the classrooms as normal on Monday the 3rd.

These days of rest remain until 2025
The year is about to end, but there are still some days of rest left, mainly for basic education students.
These are two days of official rest, the first on November 17 to commemorate the Day of the Mexican Revolution (November 20) and the second on Thursday, December 25 for Christmas, although the latter coincides with the winter holidays.
In addition to these two dates, students will have another day of suspension corresponding to the School Technical Council on Friday, November 28, 2025.
