The French President, Emmanuel Macronwill receive his Ukrainian counterpart on Monday, Volodymyr Zelenskyto discuss the security guarantees that Kiev’s allies will be able to offer in the event of a ceasefire with Russia.
The meeting between the two leaders in Paris “will allow for the reaffirmation of France’s long-term commitment to Ukraine and maintaining the pace of work undertaken on the issue of security guarantees” that can be provided by the allies of Kievsaid the French Presidency in a statement.
This is Zelensky’s ninth visit to France since the beginning of the guerra initiated by Russia in 2022.
The visit will also allow for “discussions on the challenges of bilateral cooperation, particularly in the energy, economic and defense sectors”.
A “coalition of willing countries“, which brings together around thirty nations, mainly Europeans, who support Ukraine, met for the last time in London, on October 24.
Kiev’s allies were determined to increase pressure on Moscow. The British Prime Minister, Keir Starmerin particular, called for the “work to be completed” on using frozen Russian assets to finance Ukraine’s defense.
The security guarantees planned for Ukraine, developed over months by this coalition, include support for Army of Kiev and its land, sea and air forces. However, they continue to depend on the end of hostilities, which is highly unlikely.
